On 1st of September 2014, more than 100 new apprentices nationwide start into working life at the security services provider Securitas. 26 of the trainees are supported via the MobiPro-EU programme. The junior staff commence in five apprenticeships, “Safety and Security Specialist” being the most popular amongst them.
With more than 200 apprentices in three training years, the competence partner for security achieves a new maximum number of apprentices. One third of the apprentices are trained at the Schwerin site. This makes Securitas the largest training company in the federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
26 apprentices come from EU countries such as Spain, Ireland and Greece. "As early as in 2012, we started to look for new apprentices abroad," says Detlef Strohkirch, Head of the Securitas Training Centre in Schwerin. In 2013, also the Federal Government started to promote the occupational mobility of young people and young unemployed skilled workers (MobiPro-EU). Thus, it is now possible for young people to receive in-company vocational training in other countries within the European Union.
Besides professional qualities, our main focus in all professions is on promoting skills as communication, cooperation and to assume responsibility. The MobiPro-EU Programme also covers theoretical language training and an internship to help consolidate German language skills.
"We consider it our social responsibility to provide excellent training at Securitas in five different apprenticeships and this to as many young people as possible. We regard it as an investment in the future," emphasizes Gabriele Biesing, Human Resources Director at Securitas in Germany. "Our aim is to keep qualified employees within the company. Depending on their skills and expert knowledge we further develop them as qualified security professionals and identify those amongst them who have potential as young executives."
The apprentices of the Securitas Group mainly start in three dual apprenticeships:
- Safety and Security Specialist (3 years),
- Safety and Security Service Officer (2 years),
- Aviation Service Specialist (3 years)
Apart from these three apprenticeships, the security service provider also trains young people to become Office Manager, IT Manager as well as Event Manager.
